In 2011 the two friends Calogero and Cristian opened the doors of their own little restaurant Oltremare in Balestrate. Cristian, the chef, uses fresh ingredients and pays much attention to the presentation of his dishes. Calogero is your host. Oltremare offers lovely fish and meat dishes and has a wine list with various good Sicilian and Italian wines. Even though Oltremare is a young restaurant, it is already one of the best restaurants, if not the best restaurant in town!

In the tranquility of Alcamo's countryside, in a valley surrounded by a hilly landscape dominated by vineyards, you will find Agriturismo Tarantola. Here you can enjoy Alcamo's traditional homemade cuisine with biological vegetables from Tarantola's vegetable garden. Wine made from a variety of grapes (vino svuso) is included in the menu but if you prefer bottled wine you can taste Tarantola's excellent white and red wines: the Inzolia-Chardonnay, the Cabernet-Syrah and the Nero D'Avola. Tarantola offers on-Sicily guests a special discount.

Owner and chef Gaetano Basiricò opened the doors to his restaurant Serisso 47 in April 2010. Cooking is his passion for years now and the beautifully presented dishes reflect that very well! All of his creations are based on the lovely Mediterranean cuisine and only fresh ingredients are used. Serisso 47 has an excellent wine list with Sicilian and foreign wines which will accompany the refined fish, meat and vegetarian dishes beautifully. Also all dolci (desserts) are prepared by chef Gaetano. Our favorites are the Cassata Kabir and the Torta Mary. The first dessert is based on the famous Sicilian cassata and the second one is a delicious combination of chocolate, orange liquor, ricotta cheese, amaretto and mascarpone cheese.

Ristorante Il Gitano is a lovely little restaurant in the coastal town of Castellammare del Golfo. The restaurant is well known for its excellent fish dishes. There are only a few tables in the restaurant but in the summer period there's also a possibilty to sit outside. The owner has put together two menus (30 Euros for fish and 25 Euros for meat p.p., without drinks), but you can also eat à la carte, in which case you'll get a 10% discount. If you go and eat more often at Il Gitano, the owner will also offer you a dessert.

Pizzeria Ristorante La Batìa (local dialect for abbey) is a beautiful and characteristic restaurant in the nearby town of Alcamo. When the building was renovated all of the original charm was preserved. The owner has put together two special menus with typical Sicilian dishes (meat or fish). All meals come with antipasti (starters), a primo piatto (first course) a secondo piatto (main course), dolci (dessert), coffee, water and wine.

In the city center of Palermo, close to the Teatro Politeami, the two brothers Fabio and Giuseppe Fiandaca run the trendy and stylish restaurant Il Ghiottone raffinato. The fish and meat dishes are based on the Mediterranean cuisine and are beautifully presented. Il Ghiottone raffinato has an excellent wine list with several Sicilian quality wines. The restaurant can accomodate up to 50 guests and 20 more in the summer period when they offer the possibility to sit outside. Il Ghiottone raffinato is open for lunch and dinner.

Baglio Cantello is a beautifully renovated baglio in Paceco, a small town near Trapani. On the terrace, overlooking the Egadi islands, you can enjoy the delicious creations of the chef, of course all based on the Sicilian cuisine. The restaurant's refined dishes are really something special for the gourmets among you!

You can easily combine a lunch or dinner at Baglio Cantello with a visit to Trapani, Erice or Marsala and the saline. As a guest of on-Sicily you'll receive a complimentary bottle of good Sicilian wine.

Baglio Cantello has several comfortable rooms with in-suite bathroom. Given the convenient location near the airport of Trapani - approximately a 20 minute drive - the baglio is a perfect solution for those who want to spend their last or first night close to the airport. Trattoria pizzeria Monte D'Oro offers traditional, Sicilian dishes. The trattoria's is simple, but the food is excellent! Therefore Monte D'Oro is very popular amongst the locals. With your on-Sicily card you'll get a meat based or a vegetarian menu, including a dolce (dessert) for 19 Euros. The pasta is always fresh!

For a great pizza made in a wood burning oven, you can go to Il cavallino bianco (“the little white horse”) in the coastal town of Balestrate. They have a wide range of pizzas and several delicious pasta dishes. You can also try the risotto ai frutti di mare or the handmade gnocchi ai funghi porcini. Il cavallino bianco offers on-Sicily guests a special discount.

Azienda agrituristica Baglio Carta is located outside of Balestrate in a nicely renovated baglio. A baglio is a typical Sicilian construction where a house or a group houses is built in a square shape with a courtyard and one entrance gate. The courtyard is a great place to enjoy the Sicilian meat based menu, with lots of antipasti, primi and secondi piatti. Baglio Carta offers on-Sicily guests a special discount.
